Based at Palazzo Benedettucci in Recanati, the Conservation Team offers specialist collection care of a wide variety of materials to enhance the accessibility of the rich historical collections present in the Diocese area and their long-term preservation.

With agreement with the Diocese, the main conservation projects at present focus on the conservation of selected volumes and archival papers from the Benedettucci Library and its spaces. Our students have access to the library containing more than 46000 important items, giving the opportunity to understand first hand all matters related to working with an important heritage asset.

The classes offered are open to students and the more experienced professional wanting the opportunity to be involved in all theoretical and practical stages of conservation and preservation activity. The courses are designed to give a solid understanding of the stages of conservation within an historical environment and the study and practice of hands-on activities involved in bookbinding and paper / ceramic / metal conservation. They are conducted in fully equipped workshops, surrounded by original antique objects, documents and bindings. Our tutors are long term conservators with deep teaching experience.

The Recanati e Restauro Conservation courses are unique in offering such a full immersion within conservation /restoration studios together with an historical library with all the beauty and issues related to it. All of this with the support and guidance of well recognised international conservation professionals sharing their working experience.
